Enrollment is now open for the 11th edition of our Online Grief Intervention Course. The program, aimed at health and social care professionals, will run from October 5, 2026 to May 14, 2027. Registration will remain open until October 2, unless all available places are filled beforehand.
The course aims to provide professionals with the resources and tools needed to address complicated grief at every stage, in adults as well as children and adolescents.
Why This Training Matters
The social taboo that still surrounds illness and death leaves many grieving people isolated, silenced, and unsupported — especially when the grieving process becomes complicated. Faced with this reality, more and more grieving individuals are turning to health and social care professionals for guidance, often in a state of vulnerability, disorientation, and pain, and sometimes presenting with blocked or masked grief. That’s why it’s essential for professionals to be able to recognize the symptoms of complicated grief and to have the right intervention tools at hand.
Course Content
The program combines theoretical lectures, case studies, and required readings for group discussion, and is structured into five theoretical-practical modules covering, among other topics:
- Defining grief, its treatment, and possible complications.
- Group and individual grief therapy.
- How grief manifests in children and adolescents.
- Approaches to traumatic grief.
Methodology and Faculty
Each module involves an average workload of 26 hours and must be completed within a maximum of 5 weeks, during which students analyze two case studies. At the end of each module, students take a written assessment, and participation in the Virtual Classroom’s discussion forums is also taken into account. The course content is developed and taught by the Foundation’s team of grief specialists, led by Sara Losantos.
Students and Accreditation
The course is aimed primarily at health and social care professionals with a university degree in Medicine, Nursing, or Psychology. Accreditation as Continuing Education for healthcare professions has been requested from the Health Department of the Regional Government of Madrid (13.5 credits in previous editions). Students currently pursuing these degrees, as well as people with other qualifications, may also enroll; upon completion, they will receive a diploma from the Fundación Mario Losantos del Campo.
Duration and Price
The full course consists of 5 theoretical modules, with a total workload of 130 hours, and can be taken in full or as individual modules.
