Last January, as part of our Neuropsychology of Ageing project, we launched a series of online talks for caregivers of people with cognitive impairment. Throughout these sessions, we looked at key aspects of caregiving: understanding cognitive decline, dealing with everyday challenges, communicating with the person being cared for, and the emotional impact that the caregiving role has on the physical and mental health of those who provide care.
More than fifty people have taken part in these activities, sharing experiences, questions and resources, and helping to create a space of mutual support and shared learning. With the May session, focused on self‑care, we brought this first series of talks to a close, but we will resume training after the summer with new initiatives specifically designed to support caregivers.
As a complement to these initiatives, our online community Circle of Care is available as a free resource for caregivers seeking support, information and specialised guidance. It offers a structured environment where caregivers can share experiences, raise questions and access educational content on care and self‑care, with the aim of providing practical tools and a reference network that helps sustain the day‑to‑day work of caregiving.
