In the rural communities of Benga (Malawi), the elderly live under conditions of extreme poverty, facing devastating effects on their health and life expectancy. As part of this activity, we visit more than a hundred elderly people experiencing vulnerable living situations, thus providing them with basic food, regular medical check-ups, household and hygiene items. Additionally, we also repair or reconstruct their homes seeking to securely guarantee their habitability.
without the strength to work, with little or no family support -since young people often put the care of their children before that of their parents- and without economic resources, many The elderly survive thanks to the charity of their neighbors in slums without windows, with dirt floors and flimsy roofs or walls. This has devastating effects on their health, self-esteem and life expectancy.
